Event overview for WIBA Excellence Awards 2015
WIBA Excellence Awards
In efforts to ensure that competitive women owned businesses are recognized, WIBA has an annual event in which female entrepreneurs are profiled, and acknowledged for their economic contribution.
This event sparked interest in both WIBA members and non-members. For fair representation of all sectors which women operate, WIBA made the event to be inclusive of the informal sector. This is to encourage and ensure that those involved in it are able to professionalize their craft/trade. The scope of the project was done at a national scale to ensure enough participation.
“Women Uniting In Business”
The event attracted a crème of female entrepreneurs in male dominated industries like construction, agro processing, and other sectors such as hairdressing and beauty, and tourism to mention a few. For fair adjucation process, series of interviews were conducted against those who applied.
Part of the criteria for entering the awards include proper record keeping, good financial preparation, sound management practices. As much as the judge’s decisions weighed heavily in the fate of nominees, the general public was allowed to vote for the candidate of their choice as many times as possible.
